Twenty one middle and high school scholars didn’t relax for Spring Break!  They embarked on a journey to visit select Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU’s) in  Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia, and North Carolina, as well as sites rich in Civil Rights history.  They departed by motorcoach on March 24 in route to the Southern States to explore their college options and encourage them to dream BIG!  Colleges visited during their trip include Jackson State (Jackson, MS), Southern University and Louisiana State University (Baton Rouge, LA), Dillard University, Xavier University, University of Louisiana (Lake Charles, LA),  Alabama State & Tuskegee University (Montgomery, Alabama), Morehouse, Georgia Tech, Clark University (Atlanta, GA) and A & T University (Greensboro, NC).  The trip was not only about college though!  The group spent nights in New Orleans, Montgomery, AL and Atlanta, GA and Greensboro, NC where they enjoyed the scenery and experienced the culture.  Many historic sites were visited along the way.  Thanks to Heritage United Church of Christ for organizing this excursion!

One of the highlights of the Tour was a visit with President Gilbert Rochon of Tuskegee University!  Our scholars are college bound……
